Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle Closes Roadway In Enfield, Somers

ENFIELD, CT — A collision between two vehicles, including a motorcycle, resulted in the death of a motorcycle passenger, and closed a road on the eastern edge of town for more than three hours.

The crash took place at 1:20 p.m. on Somers Road, at the town line where the street name becomes Shaker Road in Somers. One driver fled the scene and is being sought, according to police.

Lt. Keith Parent said a victim was taken by ambulance to Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, then airlifted by LifeStar to an area hospital.

A passenger on the motorcycle, identified as Amanda Santiago, 27, of Springfield, Mass., was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Harrford, where she was pronounced dead.

During an investigation, the roadway was closed from Moody Road in Enfield to Main Street in Somersville. The street re-opened at 4:47 p.m., Parent said.
