ENFIELD, CT — A 38-year-old local man was arrested Saturday morning on a warrant charging him with various sexual assault crimes involving a 13-year-old victim.

Mitchell Hoffman was charged with risk of injury to a child, illegal sexual contact with a victim under age 16, first-degree sexual assault and three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. He was released on a $250,000 surety bond, and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior court Sept. 18.

The case was originally reported to Enfield police by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families on March 6, 2022. The 13-year-old victim was known to Hoffman, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

An initial warrant application, based on allegations, admissions and claims made by the victim, was denied by the court. More recently, the victim made additional disclosures and provided additional detail that led to a resubmission of the arrest warrant, which was signed by a judge, Fox said.

Due to the nature of the charges, no other information was divulged.
