Shining a Light

Danielle Girard recently knocked on my door to let me know she is running for the Enfield Board of Education. I confess I am jaded and not easily impressed by local candidates - I think we need more juice! But Danielle struck me as distinctive for her commitment to creating supportive school environments with enough staffing to care properly for all our kids. A mom and experienced school volunteer, she knows the system well. Her experience is not just in education, but participation, from organizing Rock the Vote events to founding an organization committed to civil dialogue across differences. When I asked Danielle what was ahead for her campaign, she said "We are going out prepared to have difficult conversations." And she said it with a smile full of confidence. She has my vote!
