ENFIELD, CT — Local police and agents from several state agencies conducted an administrative inspection operation at numerous Enfield smoke shops Tuesday, and cited two for selling nicotine products to an underage person and a half-dozen for violating labor laws.

Representatives of the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Drug Control and Gaming departments, the Department of Labor and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services joined Enfield police in visiting a total of 16 different shops, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

As part of the inspection, people under the legal age of 21 attempted to purchase nicotine products from the stores. Smoke Plus Mart at 169 Elm Street and T-Ville Food Mart at 98 Pearl Street were both found to be in violation by selling to the underage person, and were cited accordingly, Fox said.
