Student Arrested In Connection With Enfield High School Gun Incident
A weapon discovered in a student's waistband turned out to contain BB gun components and a BB gun magazine, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield High School student is facing several charges after being discovered in possession of what "appeared to be a functional handgun" in a classroom Wednesday morning, according to police.
Martin Williams, 18, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, possessing a weapon on school grounds, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child and first-degree breach of peace. Bond was set at $100,000.
The incident began around 10:30 a.m. when staff members told a school resource officer that a student had reported hearing someone "racking" the slide of a handgun in a bathroom. The school was immediately placed into lockdown mode as more police were summoned, and Williams was detained by officers and patted down for weapons, Chief Alaric Fox said.

Following the period of lockdown, students were dismissed early at 12:30 p.m.
