Tropical Storm Isaias Wreaks Havoc In Enfield [PHOTOS]

A powerful storm late Tuesday afternoon left nearly 9,000 homes without electricity in Enfield.

ENFIELD, CT — Arborists, landscapers, tree trimmers and stump grinders were out in full force Wednesday morning throughout Enfield, as residents began the process of cleaning up after Tropical Storm Isaias caused a path of destruction late Tuesday afternoon.

Numerous trees had fallen - some onto power lines and utility wires - and storm debris was visible at every turn. A total of 8,680 Eversource Energy customers in Enfield, or 44.45 percent, were without power as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

By its 4 p.m. update, Eversource reported 7,449 customers without power in Enfield, or 38.15 percent. Across Connecticut, 615,994 Eversource customers, or 48.08 percent, still had no electricity.
