Ujima African American Alliance Receives Grant from Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Hartford, CT Oct 17, 2025 – The Ujima African American Alliance is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Centennial Arts and Culture Appreciation Grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. This prestigious grant will help support and expand the Alliance's mission to celebrate and elevate African American culture through the arts.

“We are deeply honored to receive this generous and unexpected support,” said Rosalind Swift, Founder and Chair of the Ujima African American Alliance. “This grant not only provides us with the resources to grow our programming but also affirms the importance of our work in honoring African American heritage. With this funding, we are excited to engage more participants, create additional spaces for cultural expression, and continue to contribute to the vitality and richness of our community."

The grant is part of the Hartford Foundation’s ongoing commitment to cultural enrichment in the region. It will help the Alliance create more spaces for creative expression and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the greater Hartford community.
