Visions For Vacancies: Readers Offer Ideas For Enfield Street Building
More than 100 responses were received regarding last week's posting of a vacant commercial building on Route 5.

ENFIELD, CT — Last week's Visions For Vacancies column prompted a record number of responses from readers. Over 100 suggestions were made for use of the building on the corner of Enfield Street and Alden Avenue, which served as home to Onpoint Connections before it moved to 33 Palomba Drive in 2022.
Some readers suggested chain businesses such as Frank Pepe's Pizza, a Pride station, Cumberland Farms and Nardelli's. Among the general uses offered were:
- bakery
- barber shop
- butcher shop
- car detailing
- car wash
- coffee house
- diner
- dog wash
- drive-through convenience store
- farm stand
- "honest hometown mechanic"
- hot dog stand
- laundromat
- seed exchange
- soul/barbecue restaurant
- tire shop
