ENFIELD, CT — Polls open at noon today for a special referendum on Enfield Fire District No. 1 purchasing a new pumper truck.

Polls are open from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the fire district's headquarters at 200 Phoenix Ave.

There, district voters will decide a $1.3 million appropriation to replace the current 2007 pumper and to approve the transfer of funds from the District’s general fund for a down payment.

The referendum question is as follows:

"Shall the Enfield Fire District No. 1 Fire Commission President and/or Treasurer, acting on behalf of the Fire District, be authorized to enter into a contract for the purchase of a new pumper apparatus for not more than $1,300,000.00 and up to $750,000.00 be transferred from the District’s general fund for down payment, with the remainder funded through a Lease Purchase?"
