Wreaths Across America Convoy Makes Detour Through Enfield [VIDEO]

Walmart trucks loaded for National Wreaths Across America Day toured Enfield on their way to Arlington, Long Island and Shanksville, PA.

ENFIELD, CT — For the eighth consecutive year, a caravan of Walmart trucks bearing wreaths from Maine and destined for Arlington National Cemetery, Long Island National Cemetery and the Shanksville PA 9/11 Flight 93 crash site ahead of Saturday's National Wreaths Across America ceremonies made its lone northern Connecticut stop in Enfield Wednesday.

Escorted by Enfield Police Department vehicles, the trucks left Walmart in East Windsor at 10 a.m., and followed a route designed to have them slowly pass by each school in Enfield. At each site, students and staff members turned out in full force, enthusiastically cheering and thanking the drivers and holding up signs of support and love.

Following a 90-minute tour of town, the trucks ended up at the town green, where a brief wreath-laying ceremony took place with Lucien Lefevre of American Legion Post 154, Tony Torres of American Legion Post 80 and local Wreaths Across America coordinator Pam Townsend. The drivers then resumed their journey southbound.
