Wreaths Across America Truck Caravan Through Enfield Canceled For 2024
The Wreaths Across America ceremony is still on for Saturday, but a forecast of heavy rain has caused cancellation of Wednesday's convoy.
ENFIELD, CT — A forecast of heavy rain and gusty winds Wednesday has prompted coordinators of the annual Wreaths Across America truck caravan through Enfield to cancel the procession for this year.
Co-coordinator Lori Gates told Patch, "After discussing the hazardous weather forecast for the area for Wednesday, we have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel the convoy visit on Wednesday."
The Wreaths Across America ceremony is still scheduled for Saturday at noon at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.

For the past eight years, Walmart tractor trailer trucks loaded with thousands of holiday wreaths depart from Maine en route to Arlington National Cemetery, just outside Washington, D.C., in time for National Wreaths Across America Day. Historically, the truck drivers have made Enfield their lone stop in Connecticut, following a circuitous route that travels past each school in town and culminates with a brief ceremony at the town green.
Enthusiastic school children, teachers and staff members cheer wildly as the trucks approach. Many bear signs of love and remembrance, as seen in this video from last year's journey.
