  1. Mark your calendars because the holiday fair schedule is upon us. On November 13 join SoMa in Deep River, for its 2nd annual holiday art fair with local artists, makers and crafters from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be acoustic music by Frank Jr. of Face Arts Music and over 20 local artist and creators. Vendors will be indoors and outdoors! River Valley Dance Project will be hosting 15 minute meditation/yoga sessions for $5 starting at 1 p.m. This event is free (no dogs please). In addition, Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau: Faith will be on hand at the event doing a bake sale to raise money for its scholarship fund!   2. State Representative Christine Palm, (D-36) was recently named the "Gun Sense Candidate." She wrote in a Facebook post on her page, "I am proud to be named a "Gun Sense Candidate" by Moms Demand Action.   3. Heads up Essex residents! The Essex Town Hall will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. It will reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. (essexct.gov)
  4. Amtrak has announced that it will begin the process of building a new Connecticut River Bridge soon. According to a recent Facebook post on Senator Norm Needleman's page, "Amtrak recently announced it will enter the procurement phase in early 2023 to select a contractor to construct a new Connecticut River Bridge, allowing for better reliability and fewer delays for travelers due to the planned infrastructure modernization. Amtrak will award the contract in late 2023 and begin construction in early 2024. The Connecticut River Bridge, more than 100 years old, is used by Amtrak, Shore Line East and freight trains on the Northeast Corridor between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme. The new bridge in plans will be a two-track, electrified and resilient movable bridge structure with new track, signal, catenary, power, communication, controls and security features. It will have a planned useful life of 150 years." (Senator Norm Needleman via Facebook)
