- It's time for the Connecticut Spring Boat Show which will take place at Safe Harbor Essex Island from April 28 through 30. Four bands are booked for the weekend, along with three fishing seminars - Fishing The River, Fishing The Sound and Fishing Offshore planned for Saturday. This is a rain-or-shine event. Children 13 and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult. Be sure to get a children’s ticket for them when you are purchasing online. Each ticket/bracelet provides entrance for all three days. - A $5,900 grant from the CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant from CT Humanities will help the Deep River Historical Society achieve its goal of doing more community outreach and working on preservation. The grant is earmarked to provide financial support for the society's exhibits, as well as, to utilize the services of a professional marketing expert to help engage in community efforts. (zip06.com)
- It's Earth Month in Chester and according to a Deep Hollow Farm press release, two opportunities are being offered to learn more about the Farm. On April 22, you’ll find the Harrington family talking CSAs and growing your own food at Chester’s Earth Day Celebration on Main Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on April 23 from 3 to 4 p.m. you can get a a behind-the-scenes peek at Deep Hollow Farm which rests on the fringe of the Cockaponset State Forest.
