- Do you love to fish? Do you love to fish for trout? Then Cedar Lake is a great place to go. It was stocked with trout on January 23. You can buy your annual fishing license online now (with Trout stamp $33 for ages 18 to 64, free for ages 65+ or 15 and younger, $17 for 16 and 17 year olds https://portal.ct.gov/.../Freshwater.../Licenses-and-Permits) Buy a license and catch some dinner! - The second annual Repair Cafe is right around the corner on Saturday, March 11. Sustainable Essex will be hosting the Cafe from 12-3 p.m. in Centerbrook at the Trinity Lutheran Church. A repair cafe is where volunteers help community members repair small appliances and clothing, for free, to keep them out of landfill and in good working condition. Handy volunteers will be available to help you fix up your broken lamps, fans, small appliances, and favorite dress or pants! The event is free, but if you may have to buy a replacement part yourself. Bring one item or a few! See you there! (Sustainable Essex via Facebook)
- Does your teen like sushi? Do they want to learn how to make it themselves? Essex Library will host a monthly social and activity time for high school teens, beginning Friday, March 24, from 5-6 p.m. Participants are invited to the library after hours to hang out and learn something new each month! In March, teens will learn basic sushi rolling techniques by making avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, and mango nigiri. Books on sushi making will be available to check out.
