The Deep River Planning and Zoning Commission voted to "prohibit recreational cannabis retailers from opening in town." According to a Middletown Press article, the vote was four to two. The article states that, "members Michael Dinello, Marian Staye, Stanley Rheinheimer, and Frederick Jordan voted in favor of the ban, while Chairman Anthony Bolduc and Alan Paradis voted against.
