The Chester Historical Society is still looking for donations of unwanted “treasures” to the Juried Art & Antiques Auction the Society is holding, which will go live on Wedneday March 15 and end on Saturday March 25. If you donate items, you will receive a letter for IRS purposes. Consignments may be considered for items valued at over $100. House Majority Leader Jason Rojas wants the voices of medical marjuana user to be heard in Connecticut, in regard to the change in the market, concerns about the variety of products available for sale and the general oversight of medical cannabis. Rojas has reportedly introduced a bill which would create the position of a cannabis ombudsman in the state. The proposed bill is slated to be heard by the General Law Committee today. Essex Garden Club and Essex Land Trust present Kathy Connolly of Old Saybrook to be the speaker for the garden club’s annual open meeting which will be held on Monday, March 6 from 2 - 3 p.m. at the Essex Town Hall. Connolly, a well-respected ecology-minded landscape and garden designer writer and speaker, will be talking about earth-friendly designs, native plants and low-impact land care techniques that you can use in your own backyards.
