- Volunteers needed! The Friends of the Chester Public Library are looking for volunteers to help with the Chester Fair. Able-bodied people are needed to sort books, transport books to the fairgrounds and volunteer at the fair. If you are interested please call 860-526-0018 or email miglia87@hotmail.com. - Get ready to run! Deep River Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting the 30th year of Run To The River 5K Road Race and 1M Kids Fun Run as part of the Deep River Family Day celebrations, which will take place on Saturday, September 17. The 5K race route is USATF certified and begins at Devitt Field at Southworth and Belmont. Enter early for a discount. the 5K is $25 for all ages. The price goes up to $30 on September 5. The 1M Kids Fun Run is $15 (13 and up) and $5 (12 & under). The first 100 registrants to the 5K will receive a free t-shirt. (Town of Deep River).
- According to a Zip06 article, "Following Week 15 action (in the Deep River horseshoe league) the White Sox (55.5-34.5) are in first place and are followed closely by the Giants (55.0-35.0) in second place. The Orioles and Marlins are tied for third place with their records of 49.5-40.5. The Tigers hold fifth place with a 49-41. record. The Cardinals and Pirates are tied for sixth place at 48.5-41.5. The Padres are in eighth place with a record of 46-44. The rest of the standings line up like this: Royals (45.0-45.0), Red Sox (44.5-45.5), Reds (44.5-45.5), Cubs (45.5-44.5), Rangers (42.5-47.5), Dodgers (42.0-48.0), Yankees (39.0-51.0), Mets (38.5-51.5), Braves (36.0-54.0), and Angels (31.0-59.0)."
