The Day The Musical Came Back To VRHS

ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — The following letter was sent out today to Valley Regional High School parents and John Winthrop Middle School guardians, letting them know that the annual musical production is on for this year:

"Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:
On October 18, the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) released an updated version of Addendum 7 regarding the COVID 19 Reopening plan. The revised version provides mitigations strategies and guidance for the arts. We are thrilled to have this information so we can move forward with the musical.
Since the beginning of the year, we have been working to develop a plan as we awaited further guidance from the state. We are prepared to move forward with a safe plan for the musical which is currently being reviewed by our local health departments.
Directors Ingrid Walsh and Laura Traver are thrilled to combine efforts to bring back VRMP and JW Drama with a joint musical production! Ingrid and Laura are looking forward to unifying and reigniting our district with this production. Students from VRHS and JWMS will be able to participate in all capacities of this production.
This year, our musical program will be producing Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID! We will continue to be mindful as we work through the logistics of a combined performance that is safe given the challenges of COVID-19. Please know that our video license will allow us to record for families along with the rights to stream the performance, should it be necessary.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Ingrid and Laura who have worked tirelessly on this thorough plan which will provide our community with a terrific musical. Their commitment to our students is to be commended. We would also like to thank Dr. Brzozowy and Superintendent White for their support throughout the entire process to ensure that the show could go on!
