- The world-premiere musical, "Star of Freedom," directed by the Ivoryton Playhouse's Artistic Director Jacqueline Hubbard, with music and lyrics by Jeff Blaney and book by Lawrence Thelen, has taken to the stage at the Playhouse and will run through May 1. Juxtaposing sadness with whimsy the musical is a love story. Tickets are on sale now. (Middletown Press)
- Good news! Although there is not much information available at this time, according to a Deep River Fire Department Facebook post, the fire gear that was stolen from the car of one of the fire department's volunteers, over the weekend, was found and the department should have it back sometime this week. - Walmart in Guilford is closing! According to a press release, the store will be closed by May 20. There are currently 34 Walmarts in the state, the closest geographic stores to the Guilford Walmart are the ones in Branford and Old Saybrook. (Zip06.com)
- What an honor! The Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School Principal, Mark Ambruso, has been named the 2022 Connecticut Middle School Principal of the Year. Reportedly credited for his positive, fun, safe approach to running a school, Ambruso was nominated by his colleagues. The Connecticut Association of Schools and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, sponsor the award, which recognizes the achievements of individual school leaders for extraordinary leadership and a passion for education.
