1. Here’s a reminder to recycle this holiday season from the Town of Essex. "Thanksgiving is probably one of the few times a year you cook a whole turkey or bake a pie. And one of the few times you use a pie tin or an aluminum tray. But, with 46 million turkeys consumed each Thanksgiving, we had better figure out what to do with all those turkey trays. "The United Church of Chester will hold its annual Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come enjoy shopping for hand-crafted items and delicacies, decorations, greens, knitted goods and mouth-watering morsels for holiday giving. There will also be a silent auction, tea-cup auction and Grandma’s attic to prowl through for Christmas treasurers. The church is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 860-526-2697." "The River Valley Fund for Families Leadership Committee and the Community Foundation of Middlesex County President & CEO, along with the dedicated RVFF volunteers, are pleased to announce that their first fundraiser, “The Festival of Trees,” is planned for November 25– December 10 in Essex. The holiday trees, decorated by local vendors, retailers, creative community members and RVFF volunteers, will be on display at 2-4 Main Street in Essex Village. Trees are available for purchase through a silent auction option or an onsite direct purchase option. Viewing, bidding and onsite purchasing of the trees begins on November 25. The announcement of the winners for the silent auction is scheduled for December 10 at 2:00 pm. Winners do not have to be present to win." (Patch)
