Here are the top three stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:
- Do you think you are fast enough to beat a train? The Essex Steam Train Half Marathon will take place on April 23. You can run the entire race alone, or you can split the difference and run half and have a teammate run the other half as a relay. The Steam Train Half Marathon and two-person relay is the only road race against a turn-of-the-century steam train in the United States and it's right here in the tri-town area. Making this event super unique the runners race the train while families and friends can ride the train and cheer on the runners as the train and the runners leave the station together. (Beat The Train)
- According to Will Healey, who is the spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, a child died in a boating accident Friday evening and three others were hospitalized. Four individuals, including two juveniles, were on the vessel when it capsized. The DEEP EnCon Police are currently investigating the deadly boating accident that occurred on Wyassup Lake in North Stonington. (Patch)
- Area young people ages ten to 14 are invited to join the Oddfellows Playhouse show, 'Grumbling Gryphons' as performers. (Middletown Press)
