Fred Astaire Old Saybrook Student Receives Honors And Wins Award!
Eileen Kravitz, a student from Fred Astaire Old Saybrook, garners honors and emerges victorious at the New England Freddy Ball Championships
Awards and honors were pouring in for Fred Astaire Old Saybrook and Southbury students and instructors at the New England Freddy Ball Championships at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Greenwich, CT.
Fred Astaire Old Saybrook's student and Southbury dance instructors also swept the Greenwich competition with several outstanding dances that subsequently earned them top awards.

The studio delivered a series of dazzling dance performances in all categories, garnering top placements and special awards. Fred Astaire Southbury pulled in the coveted 1st Place “Top Competition Studio” Award”.

Southbury Dance instructors, Ihor Chibishev and dance instructor Diana Zhosan, won 1st Place in the Open American Smooth Division and an Impressive 2nd place to our dance instructors Vladimir Serbulenco and Ivana Strancaric. Ihor and Diana superlative dancing and impassioned performances in waltz, tango, foxtrot and viennese waltz blew away the judges and had the crowd cheering. They’re renowned worldwide for his ballroom prowess and has several distinguished titles to their name including Ukrainian Open Championship, World 10 Dance Championship, Dynasty Cup, Stars of Ukraine and Grand Prix Dance and numerous Open American Smooth. Vladimir Serbulenco and Ivana Strancaric won 1st Place in the American Closed Bronze & Silver Smooth, they have won numerous regional and interregional championships since they started dancing together in 2015 and they’ve been consistently placing on the top of their category around the country.
Saturday evening was set aside for the competition’s celebratory banquet during which special awards were bestowed. Eileen Kravitz from Fred Astaire Old Saybrook student won Top Student Novelty Showcase Award with a solo dance performance with dance instructor Rob McGurn dancing to “Dear Theodosia Solo” and Top Male Competition Teacher Award went to Vladimir Serbulenco from Southbury Fred Astaire Dance Studio.
The much anticipated Honor Dance was performed by American Closed Bronze & Silver Smooth winners Vladimir Serbulenco and Ivana Strancaric who reprised their winning Viennese waltz and Open American Smooth Champions Ihor Chibishev and Diana Zhosan performed an spectacular Foxtrot.
