Here are the top three stories today for the Essex, Chester, Deep River area:

  1. It will be all about Art on May 6 in downtown Essex, as the River Valley Artists open the exhibit “Abstract Works” at Ben Parker’s studio/gallery, and across the street, will be the Essex Art Association season opening for “All You Need is Love.’’ This art intensive evening will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Vistors will be able to go back and forth between Ben Parker’s at 1 N. Main St., and the association gallery at 10 N. Main St., taking in over 140 newly created works while enjoying wine, appetizers and desserts in both places, according to a press release. Don't miss the fun!(CT Insider)
  2. A lot happened at the Capital Friday night. Judge Joan Alexander was selected to the Connecticut Supreme Court and several bills were passed through the legislative session such as the Connecticut Clean Air Act, protections for abortion providers, a law aimed at curbing skyrocketing catalytic converter thefts and legislation prohibiting Connecticut employers from holding “captive audience” meetings to discourage workers from organizing.
