Here are the top stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:
- Chester resident and Connecticut-based graphic designer and illustrator Peter Good reportedly passed away on Tuesday at age 80. Good, along with his wife, artist Janet Cummings Good, had a long career in graphic design. His iconic work can be seen peppered throughout Connecticut including the Mark Twain House and Museum, the University of Connecticut oak leaf, The Kate in Old Saybrook, the Wadsworth Atheneum, and many more. Condolences to the Good family. (Connecticut Public)
- A grant from the Region 4 Educational Foundation (R4EF) is providing John Winthrop Middle School students with MetaQuest headsets. This will give the students the opportunity to be immersed in virtual learning and gain experience developing virtual programs.
This donation will allow the middle school students to keep pace with technology gains, prepare for STEM careers and will spark excitement for learning. (zip06.com) - On Saturday, May 6, Sustainable Essex is holding an Earth Day Clean-Up from 1 to 3 p.m. The plan is to meet at the parking lot next to the Essex Fire Station, 11 Saybrook Road. Be sure to come dressed to grab some trash. Bring water, snacks and gloves. Hope to see you there! (Sustainable Essex)
