- Justin Anderson, a Republican, has announced his candidacy for State Senate in the 33rd District which is currently represented by Democrat Norm Needleman. The 33rd district, includes Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, and Westbrook. (Patch)
- Come hear about the Constitution in the Constitution State. On May 26, Sam Tanenhaus will lead the first conversation of the three-part discussion about the Constitution hosted by the Essex Library. Tanenhaus's discussion will be followed on June 2 and 9 by Yale Law professor Akhil Reed Amar. (Torrington Register Citizen)
- On Thursday, Gov. Ned Lamont signed Connecticut's expanded abortion access bill into law. The bill provides protections to people who seek abortion procedures in Connecticut from states where abortion access has been severely curtailed or outlawed. (Patch)
