  1. You are invited to join the Essex Land Trust for a moderate, 4-mile hike at Canfield Meadow Woods. Follow the event with a short drive to High Nine Brewery, 6 Winter Avenue, Deep River for a socializing happy hour. Shared by Deep River and Essex, Canfield-Meadow Woods Nature Preserve is made up of more than 300 acres of hilly, forested land with a wide variety of terrain. Sixteen trails wind through mixed old and new growth forest, and the preserve’s many rocky outcroppings are a highlight. The hike starts promptly at 12 noon. Meet at the parking lot of the Deep River Canfield entrance on Rt 154. Overflow parking arranged for at Deep River Market across the road. (Essex Land Trust)
  2. A Public Informational Meeting will be held on April 12th at 7 p.m. concerning the River Road sidewalk project from North Main Street to Heritage Cove Road. The meeting is open to the public. Hope to see you there! (Town of Essex)
  3. The Norma Terris Theater in Chester will be open for business for the first time since December of 2019. It will be reverting to its old practice of doing full productions of musicals-in-progress, complete with sets, costumes, props, lighting and sound design. The first show will be, “Here You Come Again,” playing July 26 through August 27. The musical is based on songs made famous by Dolly Parton. The second show will be “Private Jones.” It will run from October 13 through November 5. Hope to see you at the theatre! (courant.com)
