  1. Tuesday morning, a man who fell overboard from a boat off Cornfield Point in Old Saybrook was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition. According to CT Insider, "The man fell from his 20-foot vessel and was found in the water, said Paul Copleman, a spokesperson for the [state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection]. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the Long Island Sound, less than a mile from Cornfield Point. Several emergency crews responded to the scene. 3. Did you notice the oddly colored sky and smokey smell in the air yesterday? Smoke from Canadian wildfires has wafted into the area and is proving to be problematic for many at-risk groups affected by poor air quality, such as people and animals with asthma and other breathing problems. According to The Hour.com, "Smoke from the Quebec fires is expected to elevate fine particulate matter, or very tiny particles of either solid matter or liquid droplets, to levels that are unhealthy for sensitive groups."An air quality alert for today has been issued. Be careful! (Thehour.com)
