1. The Valley Regional High School Warrior in the Community Day is fast approaching. Please consider donating bottled water and/or individually wrapped dry snacks. The school needs multiple snacks for every student when they volunteer and provide service to our three towns during Valley’s Community Service Day. The snacks may include but are not limited to: granola bars, protein bars, popcorn, pretzels, breakfast bars, and “fishy” crackers, etc. Student volunteers will be setting up a table by the main entrance to help collect donations. 2. According to state police, the truck driver who perished in the accident on the Gold Star on Friday, has been identified as Wallace Joseph Fauquet III, 42, of Deer Ridge Road in Stonington. According to CT Insider, "the crash is currently under investigation by [State Police] Troop E, the agency's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad and the Truck Squad of the agency's Traffic Services Unit." 3. It's time for the Connecticut Spring Boat Show which will take place at Safe Harbor Essex Island from April 28 through 30. Four bands are booked for the weekend, along with three fishing seminars: Fishing The River, Fishing The Sound and Fishing Offshore planned for Saturday. This is a rain-or-shine event. Children 13 and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult. Be sure to get a children’s ticket for them when you are purchasing online. Each ticket/bracelet provides entrance for all three days.
