  1. Essex Fire Engine Co. No. 1 will once again join other area fire departments in this years’ Firehouse Food Drive to support The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries Inc. Essex firefighters will be at fire headquarters on Saybrook Road on Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive non-perishable food donations. In addition, Scotch Plains Tavern in Essex and the Essex Savings Bank will be accepting non-perishable food donations during their regular business hours through Saturday, April 15. This large annual food drive will help to restock the pantries and ensure that everyone in our local communities will have a place at the table. In addition, donations can be made by check.   2. Mark your calendars! On Saturday, April 15 from 12 to 4 p.m. there will be a Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Release at Little House Brewing Company. The Chester Girl Scout Troop will be out front selling Girl Scout Cookies so be sure to ask your bartenders what cookies best pair with what’s on tap! Hot Taco Street Kitchen will be in the beer garden serving up awesome tacos. In addition, there will be a women-owned business vendor market in the upper beer garden. The CT Chapter of the Pink Boots Society will be in the back of the brewery with information about joining the chapter, the brewing school and scholarship, and donations.   3. Deep River Earth Day is planned for April 22. Source to Sea clean up will begin at 9 a.m. at Deep River Landing register at deepriverct.us/deep-river-sustainable-ct-committee.
