- We all know that recycling is good for the environment and the right thing to do, but did you know that it is also mandatory in Connecticut? It is! Everyone must recycle. That includes residents whether living in a single or multi-family building, every business including non-profits, and all public and private agencies and institutions (e.g. colleges, hospitals, local and state government agencies). Visit www.recyclect.com to learn more! - Although the forecast is calling for colder weather, the bright green tips of 43,000+ daffodils are popping up through the ground waiting to blossom across Essex, Centerbrook, and Ivoryton inviting you to celebrate Spring with “Daffodil Days.” Celebrate with the Essex merchants. You’ll find businesses and residences with decorated windows, planters and doors with everything daffodil! Daffodil Days run from March 25 through April 23. Happy almost spring! (Patch)
- Congratulations to Diane Arnold, president and CEO of Essex Savings Bank who has been named to New Haven Biz Power 25 Class Of 2023. The “Power 25” designation is not an award, but an acknowledgement of key leaders in positions of power. Arnold has been highlighted because according to a press release, she took over as president and CEO of Essex Savings Bank in the summer of 2021, becoming the first woman ever in the bank’s top position.(Press Release Desk)

- Town of Essex – Government: "What Are the Benefits of Recycling Plastic? Reduces Pollution During the production of plastic, a lot of oil is burnt. This creates a huge quantity of toxic greenhouse gases. But when plastic is recycled instead of creating it from the start, the poisonous emissions are eliminated to a huge extent! Apart from air, producing plastic disrupts other elements in our ecosystem. It also contaminates the soil and water. Plastic waste contains dangerous compounds. When the waste is not disposed of properly, animals in the water or on earth can ingest it and die. During recycling, the plastic is taken to proper recycling centers where it is properly recycled and made reusable. " (Town of Essex – Government via Facebook)
- Ivoryton Library Association: "During March, we will collect items for our local Backpack Program. For more information on the items we are collecting, go to www.ivorytonlibrary.com. " (Ivoryton Library Association via Facebook)
