  1. The Chester Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 29. It will form at St Joseph’s parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and step off at 9 a.m. The parade route will start at St Joseph’s Parking lot and travel along to The Chester War Memorial, to honor veterans who are no longer with us, continuing to the Town Flag Pole in Chester Center for the symbolic changing of the Town’s American Flag, and ending at the Meeting House for a Town Gathering. A special invitation is extended to veterans, living in or visiting Chester to march with the parade. Hope to see you there! (Town of Chester)
  2. It's time for the 2nd Annual Cocktails With the Friends, Friends of the Essex Library Fundraiser event, which will be held on June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rain date of June 10. Tickets are on sale now through June 7 (or until they sell out). Join the Friends of the Essex Library for a fun evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at one beautiful location in Essex. The event will feature live music by the CMS Faculty Jazz Trio! Tickets are $50 per person (cash or check). (Essex Library)

In an effort to provide a safer way to travel for pedestrians and cyclists wanting to access the River Road area from the heart of Essex Village, construction on the River Road Sidewalk project in Essex is slated to begin this June. According to Zip06.com, "First Selectman Norm Needleman said he is excited to see the project finally move forward following the push from Heritage Cove residents. ‘I think it’s a great improvement for the whole town,’ said Needleman. ‘People have been asking for this for a long time, and I’m excited that we’re going to give them what they want, finally.'” (Zip06.com)
