- The Town of Deep River is working on an update to its ten-year Plan of Conservation & Development (POCD) that will guide the ways in which the Town guides and regulates growth for the next decade. Residents are being asked to help the town to identify priority areas and development types by filling out a short survey. The link to the survey can be found here. (Town of Deep River)

fundraising 5k running event to be held on March 18. The R4EF Catch a Leprechaun Race will be run in Essex and will be specifically organized to encourage participation for elementary, middle school and high school age runners/walkers and their families. This road race has replaced the former Jingle Bell Run. Currently the R4EF is seeking sponsorships for this important fundraising event. Contributions will help defray the costs of the event which include the timing company, police and traffic control, t-shirts and prizes. That is the question! According to a recent survey done by the University of Connecticut 84% of Connecticut residents approve of wine sales in grocery stores. However, others, such as liquor store owners, are against selling wine in grocery stores in the Nutmeg State, as it may hurt their bottom line. According to NBC Connecticut, "supporters and critics of the bill spoke Thursday during a public hearing the General Law Committee held. The committee will review testimony and decide if the bill will move out of committee." (NBC Connecticut)
