Current forecasts indicate that Hurricane Henri is expected to make landfall near to us and will have a significant impact on our state beginning tomorrow, with the first effects currently expected to begin between 6:00 - 10:00 AM Sunday morning.  Wind and rain are expected to steadily increase during the late morning and thru the afternoon.  Henri is forecast to make landfall near Old Saybrook, CT Sunday evening between 6:00 – 7:00 PM as a strong tropical storm with sustained winds of 70 MPH and gusts to 85 MPH.

The storm will cause flooding, downed trees and downed wires making many roads impassable.  If there are downed wires in your area do NOT touch or go near them.  Assume any downed line is energized and stay as far away as you can, as the potential for severe injury is very real.

Widespread power outages are expected and may last up to 5-10 days.  I am sure you have been working to finish your storm preparation, best to do so as soon as possible.  This storm will affect everyone in our town, once you and your family are secure please check on your friends and neighbors.

Please remember that construction on the Route 80 bridge is not complete and the road remains closed.  Keep in mind that the official detour runs to Centerbrook, through Ivoryton and up Warsaw Street and give yourself extra time.  This is important to remember as we need to keep Kelsey Hill open and safe for emergency use as well as local traffic.
