Westbrook Foundation Supports Westbrook Youth at Bushy Hill and Pequot Sherwood Day Camps

Deep River, CT - September 17, 2025 - As Incarnation Center closes out its 2025 summer camp season, we are reflecting on the incredible experiences shared by campers and staff alike. This year, thanks to a generous $7,000 grant from the Westbrook Foundation, 10 children from Westbrook, ages 4–15, were able to attend Bushy Hill and Pequot Sherwood Day Camps with half or partial financial assistance covering program costs, including transportation, meals, and before/after care, helping working families access vital childcare during the summer months.

With the help of staff at Daisy Ingraham School and Westbrook Social Services, Incarnation Center identified and reached out to families who could most benefit from this opportunity. Together, we ensured that local children could spend their summer learning, playing, and growing through hands-on, nature-based experiences that build skills such as teamwork, independence, and leadership.

“We believe every child deserves the chance to spend their summer outside exploring, discovering, and building friendships,” said Emily Nelson, Director of Bushy Hill Nature Center and Bushy Hill Day Camp.“This summer’s support from the Westbrook Foundation opened that door for more Westbrook families, and we’re deeply grateful for their partnership and continued commitment to our programs.”

Bushy Hill Day Camp immerses children in nature-based, experiential education. At the same time, Pequot Sherwood Day Camp combines traditional summer camp activities such as swimming, boating, arts & crafts, and sports with opportunities for nature exploration. Together, these programs provide vital childcare and enriching experiences for working families during the summer months.
