16-Year-Old Arrested After Being Spotted With A 'Toy Gun': Fairfield Police

The incident occurred on Monday, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 16-year-old was arrested in Fairfield on Monday, after police said the juvenile was seen walking on Kings Highway "with what appeared to be a pistol."

Turns out, the weapon was a toy gun that had been painted black, Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington said in an email to Patch.

Officers were called to the scene, apprehended the juvenile, and seized the fake gun. The teen was charged with breach of peace, and brandishing a facsimile firearm.

Additional information about the juvenile and the incident were not disclosed.

"Incidents like this can create serious and potentially dangerous situations, and we are grateful for the professionalism in which this instance was handled," Wellington said.
