FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield firefighters made three different water rescues at the same time when heavy rain caused flooding Friday in town.
The fire department described the flash rainfall as “exceptionally heavy” in a social media post Friday night that included photos showing a car submerged nearly to its roof and a person stranded atop their vehicle in the high water.
“We are happy to report that everyone is safe with no reported injuries,” the social media post said.

“Thank you to all the bystanders that called, waited and assisted. And always remember to use caution whenever you wade through standing water, for manhole covers and storm grates can become dislodged and grade drop offs are not readily apparent causing a hazard.”
