FAIRFIELD, CT — Police are advising residents of a recent scam that has been reported in Fairfield.

The scammers are using the names of Fairfield police officers to request money or instruct people to go to their bank and withdraw funds, according to police.

“Please be aware that the Fairfield Police Department will never ask for money over the phone, demand payment, or instruct you to withdraw cash,” police wrote in a post on social media. “If you receive a call like this, do not provide personal information and do not send money. Hang up immediately.
