The suspect was seen driving recklessly in Fairfield in June.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 20-year-old Newtown man was arrested by Fairfield police last week on charges of reckless driving and related violations, after police said witnesses and a nearby police department helped Fairfield authorities track him down.

Michael Kraminsky was arrested on a warrant, charging him with the following:

  • Reckless driving
  • Illegal operation with a suspended license
  • Breach of peace
  • Speeding
  • Engaging in a police pursuit
  • Improper muffler

According to Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington, the incident occurred in June, when officers were called to the Fairfield Beach Road and Reef Road area "for a report of a reckless driver allegedly speeding with juveniles hanging out of the windows."

Officers spotted the suspect vehicle and tried to pull it over, but it sped off.

"The investigating officer obtained witness statements and video of the incident," Wellington said in a statement to Patch. "A [be on the lookout order] was issued, and a neighboring agency recognized the vehicle’s description and provided additional leads. Through this, the officer determined that Michael Kraminsky of Newtown was the driver."

"We would like to thank our community members who reported this incident and provided video evidence, the Milford Police Department, and the patrol officer who conducted a thorough investigation," Wellington said.
