AMR Announces Nearly $1M Investment in New Equipment
They have purchased 35 new Lifepak monitor/defibrillators to bolster technology used in serving the Fairfield, Bridgeport communities.

From AMR: American Medical Response of Fairfield County announced today it has purchased 35 new LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillators from Physio-Control in order to bolster the lifesaving technology used in serving the greater Fairfield and Bridgeport communities. These innovative devices and the paramedic training on their use equals an investment of nearly $1 million in the local community. This investment will enable AMR to provide quicker treatment to patients, and ultimately, to save more lives from cardiac emergencies. AMR provides 911 Paramedic ambulance service to the residents and visitors of Fairfield and Bridgeport, and now every AMR Paramedic ambulance will be carrying this new piece of lifesaving equipment.
“These new monitor/defibrillators will enable us to more quickly and thoroughly diagnose and treat our patients,” said Bill Schietinger, Regional Director of AMR. “In particular, we can continuously monitor 12-lead ECGs right in the field or in the ambulance during transport. This enables early diagnosis and initiation of treatment protocols for patients experiencing a heart attack, for example. Early identification in the field saves precious time for these patients, reducing overall time to treatment, making this a very meaningful investment in the health and safety of our community.”
The LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator provides both therapeutic and diagnostic functions all in one device that can easily be carried to the patient’s side. Used in both hospitals and the field, it is an innovative medical device for cardiac and medical emergencies. Features include a CPR Metronome (an audible prompt to aid in CPR compressions and ventilations); detection of carbon monoxide (one of the leading causes of poisoning death in industrialized countries and among firefighters and fire victims) and methemoglobin (to detect chemical exposures and certain drugs); blood pressure monitoring; and monitoring of oxygen saturation, along with defibrillation and external pacing.
