The lease was extended at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield has extended the lease for A Child's Garden at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, according to First Selectperson Christine Vitale.

At its Dec. 17 meeting, the Board of Selectpersons unanimously voted to extend the lease through August 2027, at an increased rate of 13,333.33 per month, "based on an assessment of current market rates for similar businesses."

Tuition rates for the preschool will not increase by more than 3 percent annually during the extension, according to Vitale.

"The decision was made to extend the lease to allow parents and the daycare operator additional time to locate a new site for the business, understanding the daycare shortage and waiting lists for new parents," Vitale wrote in a recent town update.
