It's been over a year and a half since the Community Theatre shut its doors to day-to-day operations and Leo Redgate stepped down from managing the cinema, but there's still an interest in keeping the theater alive in some way.
"We continue to work on the theater," Mark Barnhart, Fairfield's director of community and economic development, said. "There continues to be an interest in the space."
Though he couldn't release specific details on discussions, Barnhart said that most of the groups and people who have shown interest in doing something with the building want to use the space as a theater or performing arts space of some kind.
"The theater does require some renovations, the cost of which is certainly factoring into the discussions," Barnhart added.
But there's still hope for the space and conversations with potential tenants are in the works.
