FAIRFIELD, CT — [On Tuesday night], Rob Blanchard proudly accepted his party’s endorsement as the Democratic candidate for Connecticut’s 28th State Senate District. Delegates from Bethel, Easton, Fairfield, and Newtown gathered to unanimously cast their ballots for Blanchard, citing his commitment to fighting for increased municipal funding, meaningfully addressing affordability, collaborating with small businesses, and strengthening access to healthcare.

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Democratic party and will knock my heart out to win this race. I am running to be a voice for the 28th State Senate District and to fight for the values that will make our communities better because our residents deserve so much more,” said Blanchard.

During his remarks, Blanchard outlined his vision for the 28th State Senate District, including:

  • Addressing affordability by making sure local leaders aren’t faced with spiraling property taxes or painful cuts to education;
  • Working with employers and universities to strengthen and grow Connecticut’s talent pipeline by ensuring workers who are trained here, stay here.
  • Increasing access to childcare so parents can continue contributing to Connecticut’s workforce and reach their full economic potential.
  • Building a healthcare workforce to care for Connecticut’s seniors, and strengthen residents’ access to healthcare, including women’s health, reproductive care, and IVF.
  • Improving Connecticut’s infrastructure, by creating safer, more pedestrian-friendly roads, reducing the number of wrong-way crashes, and speeding up our rail system.

“Our government is only as good as the people we send to represent us and the ideas, compassion, and work ethic they bring. After knocking on hundreds of doors and having countless conversations with seniors and young families, one thing is clear, everyone wants a better quality of life, opportunity, and a brighter future for themselves, their children, and grandchildren,” said Blanchard.

Since April, Blanchard has been crisscrossing the district, knocking on doors, and talking to voters. This past weekend, Blanchard knocked on his 636th door, which is the margin of votes that his opponent won by in November 2022.
