Bridgeport Man Arrested for Violating Protective Order

John Dobyan, 24, was arrested and charged after allegedly leaving flowers and a note on his ex-girlfriend's car, according to Sgt. Sue Lussier.

A Bridgeport man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly violated a protective order just hours after it was issued, according to Sgt. Sue Lussier.

John Dobyan, 24, of 15 Gilman St. appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court Monday morning on charges that he threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend, who is a Fairfield resident, Lussier said. There is also a pending arrest warrant against him for physically assaulting the same woman earlier in June. After the protection order was filed in court on Monday, Dobyan allegedly left flowers and a note on his ex-girlfriend's car, which was parked on Hawthorne Drive.

The victim told police that she discovered the flowers after she left work at 4:30 p.m. and went to her car to drive home, Lussier said. She said she also received 16 text messages from Dobyan in the hours following. Officers arrived at Dobyan's home and, upon being let in by another resident, found him hiding in an attic.

Dobyan was taken into custody and charged with violating a protective order. His bond was set at $50,000 and was scheduled to appear in court on June 12.
