FAIRFIELD, CT — A 60-year-old Woodbury man was arrested on a warrant by Fairfield police earlier this month on a larceny charge, after police said he "obtained a $5,769 check under false pretenses."

On Nov. 6, Don Zemo, a contractor, was taken into custody at the Stratford Police Department on the active Fairfield warrant and charged with third-degree larceny.

The case stems from a complaint from a Fairfield property management firm that reported to police that Zemo obtained the check "for work that was never authorized or completed," according to Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington.

"After repeated unsuccessful attempts by the business to recover the funds, officers drafted and applied for an arrest warrant, which was later approved by the court," Wellington told Patch.

CT Insider reports that in addition to Fairfield, Zemo is facing similar charges from multiple jurisdictions in the state, including Stratford and New Canaan.
