Party Affiliation:
Democrat

Occupation:
Newly retired

Family:
I’m married to my amazing wife, Amelia, a talented freelance photographer and book artist whose creativity inspires me every day. We’ve been together for over 20 years and were thrilled to finally marry when same-sex marriage rights were established. Though we don’t have children, our two spirited rescue chihuahuas keep our home lively and full of love. We enjoy spending time outdoors, connecting with neighbors, and sharing time with family and friends. We also love supporting local arts and being active members of our community.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
No

Why are you seeking this office?
I’m seeking to serve as a RTM member because I care deeply about the community that I now call home. Although I’ve only lived here a few years, I’ve come to truly love Fairfield and want to contribute to its continued growth and well-being. As a recent retiree, I have the time and commitment to devote to listening, engaging, and representing residents thoughtfully. I can see the divisiveness from the federal election seeping into local politics, and I want to help keep unity and respectful discourse at the heart of our government and community— because I believe we have more in common than what divides us.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The most pressing need in our community is addressing the growing concern over overbuilding and its impact on our town’s resources, character, and quality of life. As a member of the RTM, I believe it is essential to advocate for responsible, sustainable growth—development that preserves our natural spaces, strengthens infrastructure, and maintains the sense of community that makes our town special. I am committed to listening to and advocating for residents, promoting thoughtful planning, and ensuring that the decisions we make today support a healthy, vibrant town for generations to come. Our community deserves growth that strengthens, rather than strains, the town we all love. I care deeply about the community I call home and believe that we can grow responsibly while preserving the character of our neighborhoods.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I believe all the RTM candidates have a desire to achieve good outcomes—at heart, we all want what’s best for Fairfield, and serving on the RTM is a volunteer role driven by a commitment to our community. The differences come in the approaches we take to reach these goals, the trade-offs we are willing to consider, and the perspectives shaped by our individual experiences.

My background in investment and risk management has given me a strong foundation in analyzing complex issues, assessing potential consequences, and making informed decisions. It has also taught me the importance of respectful negotiation, careful attention to detail, and holding oneself accountable—skills I believe are essential for thoughtful governance.

I also bring the perspective of someone in a same-sex marriage, which has shaped my understanding of the importance of inclusion, empathy, and considering viewpoints that may differ from my own. Experiences like this remind me that our community benefits when we weigh diverse perspectives in our decision-making.

I am committed to listening to differing viewpoints, collaborating with others, and ensuring that every decision reflects both the immediate and long-term interests of our town. I hope to bring a balance of practical experience, measured judgment, and dedication to service to the RTM, helping Fairfield continue to thrive while maintaining the character and values we all cherish.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
As Fairfield continues to grow, it is more important than ever to support our excellent public schools, enhance public services and infrastructure, and ensure that our first responders have the resources and support they need so they are never overburdened or ill-equipped. I also appreciate the need to work to keep housing and living costs affordable for all families. I am committed to keeping taxes fair and manageable, allowing our town to thrive as a place where families, neighbors, and future generations can flourish.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have over 30 years of experience managing multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios, building teams, and developing processes to make informed, responsible financial decisions. Throughout my career, I’ve worked to assess risk, evaluate opportunities, and align resources with long-term objectives. I plan to leverage these skills as a representative in our town by thoughtfully evaluating budgets, supporting sustainable growth, and ensuring that community resources are used efficiently. My background in finance and risk management gives me a disciplined approach to problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making that I believe can benefit residents and strengthen local programs.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
I’ve been fortunate to receive a lot of great advice over the years, and I’m not sure I could choose just one piece as the “best.” The guidance that’s mattered most often depends on the stage of life I was in or the moment I was facing. Over time, though, I hope all of it has added up to shape how I approach life. I actually keep a notebook of the advice and quotes that have resonated with me.

Some of the lessons that have stuck with me include:

"Listen more than you speak; you’ll learn so much that way."

"Treat others with kindness and respect, even when it’s difficult."

"Learn as much from failure as from success."

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I grew up in a large, working-class family and saw the hard work and dedication my parents put in to support and provide opportunities for their children. I was fortunate to attend college, where I experienced firsthand how education can open doors, create opportunities, and empower people to make a difference. I was also a collegiate athlete and learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

I want to bring that same care, determination, and team-oriented approach to serving Fairfield, working not just to support families but to strengthen our community as a whole, helping ensure that every person has the chance to succeed and thrive.
