Party Affiliation:
Republican
Occupation:
Naturopathic Physician
Family:
I have an adult son with a lovely girlfriend, a close sister in San Francisco, and wonderful friends that are like family to me. I am originally from Chicago.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Yes. I have been elected to the Fairfield RTM 4 times previously, for a total of 8 years of service.
Why are you seeking this office?
I believe Fairfield needs more balance in local governance and that a supermajority is not in the town's best interests.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Loss of local zoning control. I will resist our joining the Conn. Municipal Dev Authority, as part of an effort to reassert our own zoning guidelines.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have more experience navigating the issues of competing visions for our town and have been successful in the past at helping to negotiate good outcomes in the midst of controversy.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
The importance of continuity and maintaining the rules and procedures as outlined in the Fairfield Town Code.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I was instrumental in helping to pass the decision to remediate and rebuild the Penfield Pavilion when there was confusion decoding the wording of the FEMA requests and our compliance. I supported the First Select Woman, who had provided the correct remediation but was being overwhelmed by partisan enmity. Making things make sense is what matters. Not party politics.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Don't say anything unless you really have something to say.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I believe strongly in the inalienable right to Informed Medical Consent and I support the Religious Exemption. In the past I have sent emails to our town's Director of Public Health, with links to receipts, when I found reason to be concerned about certain public health signals. An example was the issue of Myocarditis in young people that emerged during the campaign for Covid vaccination.
