Elicit Brewing Co. Gains Approval For New Brewery In Fairfield

The new brewery will be next to the Fairfield Metro Center at 111 Black Rock Turnpike.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Elicit Brewing Co., a brewery and restaurant in Manchester, received Town Plan and Zoning Commission approval this week to open a new location in Fairfield on Black Rock Turnpike.

According to Fairfield Planning Director James Wendt, the brewery will have 16,000 square feet of indoor space for dining and beer production, and 2,000 square feet for outdoor dining.

"The building has an industrial past, but it was most recently occupied by a Planet Fitness gym, and before that a Boston Billiards," Wendt told the commission.

Additionally, the brewery property has 130 parking spaces, and customers will also have access to the 1,500-car Fairfield Metro Center train station parking lot, which is a short walk down a fenced path between the adjacent properties.

Tuesday's commission approval for the project was unanimous. When the brewery and restaurant will begin construction and open was not known.

First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in a statement that the brewery "will be a welcome addition" to the community.

"I can’t wait to follow along their progress and welcome them to Fairfield!" she wrote on Twitter.

Added Wendt, "We believe this is an appropriate site for this use, and it represents, in our view, a really exciting addition to the mixed-use residential commercial neighborhood that's emerging around Metro Fairfield."

Commissioner Steven Levy called the project "a definite enhancement of the property" that is in line with the town's goal of attracting development to the area around the Metro Center.
