Fairfield Duo Opens Home and Garden Decor Shop

You can tell Patty Orsini and Ed Bocchino are good business partners -- they just work well together.

The two Fairfield residents own Lexington Home and Garden, the home and garden decor shop that took over the space in the Greenfield Hill plaza where Country Mouse was once located.

Bocchino worked for Orsini before the two launched the business. They're interior designers and established that trade prior to opening up the shop in April.

"We work very well together," Orsini said. "My strengths are his weaknesses, his strengths are my weaknesses."

"And we're not afraid to tell each other what our weaknesses are," Bocchino quipped.

There's a huge amount of respect between the two, Orsini said, and that's key.

Another key to business success? Establishing relationships with clients and customers.

As designers, it's important to listen to what the client wants.

"It's whatever the client's taste is," Bocchino said.

"It's more than just picking out furniture, it's a relationship," Orsini added.

As shop owners, Orsini and Bocchino wanted to create an inviting space to add to the Greenfield Hill neighborhood.

"We want it to be a shop that people are comfortable coming into," Bocchino said.

They picked out some vintage decor -- like the old-timey cash register -- to give the store an old-fashioned vibe.

"Computers have taken over the world. Sometimes it's good to get back to basics," Orsini said.

Lexington Home and Garden sells jewelry, soap, lotion, stationary, greeting cards, interior and garden decor, and other accents and accessories. Bocchino and Orsini feature local artists, like jewelry maker Linda Farris.

Those interested in interior design can head to the shop to discuss options with Orsini and Bocchino.

The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and by appointment for design consultations. Contact Lexington Home and Garden for an appointment by calling 203-255-3000.
