Fairfield Family Suffers ‘Life-Altering Event,’ Community Rallies
The community is rallying around a Fairfield family after the sudden loss of their beloved father and husband.
FAIRFIELD, CT — The community is rallying around a Fairfield family after experiencing a “life-altering event” with the sudden loss of their beloved father and husband.
Friends are coming together to help cover funeral expenses and other unforeseen costs following the death of Gordon Bardos on Jan. 8.
Bardos was the father of two fifth-grade students at Osborn Hill Elementary School in Fairfield, according to a GoFundMe page launched in support of the family.

Family friend Lauren O'Connor is organizing the fundraiser on behalf of Katsiaryna Bardos, according to the page.
“Upon hearing this unfathomable news, many friends from the OHS Community have reached out to offer help to the family,” O’Connor wrote in the post on GoFundMe. “As a friend to the family, I am starting this GoFundMe page to help cover any costs of the funeral and other unexpected expenses that come with this tragic loss. I know Katya and her family are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.”

More than $14,000 has been raised within the first two days of the campaign, as of Thursday afternoon.
