Fairfield First Selectman Candidate Bill Gerber Issues Statement On UI
Gerber claims Kupchick Administration failed to intervene on United Illuminating monopole installation.
Information from the Gerber/Vitale campaign:
FAIRFIELD, CT — Following the First Selectwoman’s last minute plea for an extension to the Siting Council to delay the installation of unsightly monopoles–despite knowing about the proposal for two years and keeping homeowners in the dark–Bill Gerber, Democratic candidate for Fairfield First Selectman, issued the following statement:
"After two years and no action, the Kupchick Administration must finally stand up and dedicate appropriate resources to support residents impacted by United Illuminating's intrusive monopole installation plan. If United Illuminating is successful, it will alter Fairfield's environment and landscape for generations. Impacted residents deserve to know why the Administration kept residents in the dark for two years, missed filing deadlines that could have helped residents fight back, and ultimately hired outside counsel that appears to have improperly followed CT Siting Council's instructions. I join residents in urging the Kupchick Administration to take ownership of the issue, safeguard our town, our environment, our landscape and our residents' properties."
